At Grand Valley, we strive to have our Fraternity and Sorority Life community be as welcoming and inclusive as possible. We hope that anyone who wishes to join a fraternity or sorority is able to do so. This page is aimed at helping to navigate the process of joining a fraternity/sorority for those who identify as Trans.
Why is this an important topic?
Fraternities and Sororities since their beginnings were created as single sex organizations. However, In recent years these same organizations have been asked to consider what our membership policies should be as we move forward. Many organizations are beginning to re-evaluate their policies to be inclusive to students who identify as transgender. A few organizations have begun this discussion, others are staring the process to come to their new requirements of members.
This page will try to serve as a source of information for those interested in membership at Grand Valley State University and for current members searching for resources.
