Seymour K. Padnos
Seymour Padnos served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he joined his father and brother in the family business, the Louis Padnos Iron and Metal Co. Seymour graduated from Hope College with a BA Degree and has received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from GVSU. Through the Esther and Seymour Padnos Foundation, Seymour generously supports many projects. He was involved with the engineering program at Grand Valley from its beginnings in the mid-1980s. Seymour joined the GVU Foundation Board in 1981, and he became a part of the GVU Foundation Advisory Cabinet in 1996. In 1988, Seymour was inducted into the Grand Valley State University Hall of Fame. In 2011, the university presented both Seymour and Esther with the Grand Steward award. The Padnos Hall of Science and the Padnos College of Engineering and Science at Grand Valley State University are named for him.
