Karen M. Loth was appointed to Vice President for Development at Grand Valley State University in May 2012 and also serves as the Executive Director of the Grand Valley University Foundation comprised of 110+ community leaders who serve as Directors and Advisory Cabinet members. Prior to her current position, she served as the Assistant Vice President for Development for 12 years.
Since joining the university in 2000, Ms. Loth has led 17 campaigns, helping to raise more than $265 million dollars for Grand Valley in the past 19 years.
Ms. Loth received her BA from Michigan State University in English and her MA from Western Michigan University in Educational Leadership. Before joining University Development at Grand Valley, she worked at Aquinas College starting in Career Services before she moved into the Development office in 1991. She is involved with the Economic Club of Grand Rapids, and is an alumnus of Leadership West Michigan. She is a member of the national and local professional association for CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) and AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals).
