NOTE: If you have not yet signed up for your free APA membership, you need to do this first. Go to planning.org/join/students to join APA and MAP. Next, email your member number to [email protected] so MAP staff can set up your profile. You will receive a password reset email that will allow you to log in and to register.

The Student Michigan Association of Planning (SMAP) Conference is an opportunity for planning students at universities throughout the state to learn about new research, current projects and best practices from their academic peers and, soon to be, professional colleagues. This event also provides students a venue where they can connect and network with professional planners affecting change each day in their communities. Come join us to help define the future of planning.

This year's conference is hosted by Grand Valley State University's Department of Geography and Sustainable Planning. Program highlights include:

  • Keynote speaker Kristin Baja, Urban Sustainability Director's Network
  • Professional panels on Cannabis & Planning and the Grand River Restoration Project
  • Student presentations on accessory dwelling units, climate and health, pollinators, trauma in planning, and land use scenario planning.

Registration is now open!
