Description

Part of the "Twenty Minutes to Better Teaching" Series, this session will address the question :

How should I respond to wrong (or not every good) answers?

The stakes are high when an instructor responds to a student answer that is wrong or just not very good. What a teacher says to a student will influence future class participation and discussions. To increase the chances of student participation, it helps to have a repertoire of strategies to employ. This program introduces 13 possible strategies and responses that you can use when a student has provided an answer that is wrong or not very good.

This same event is available on the Pew Grand Rapids Campus on Wednesday, November 28th.

Register in Sprout.

“Twenty Minutes to Better Teaching” Series

The Pew FTLC offers faculty 24-7 access to video-based professional development through our subscription to the 20-Minute Mentor Commons.  We invite you to a session (or two!) in our new series called “Twenty Minutes to Better Teaching.” For each of the topics below, we will spend the first 20 minutes of the session watching the video and then engage in a 30-min discussion. Registrants will also be provided with a link to the video and supporting materials in advance of the session.

These sessions are offered at time convenient for part-time faculty teaching evening classes, but all faculty are welcome to participate.
