Date and Time

Friday, October 1, 2021 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

You can RSVP for this event

This workshop begins on Friday, October 1.
It will meet every Friday in October (10/1, 10/8, 10/15/ 10/22/ and 10/29) from 1pm–3pm.
Participants are expected to attend all meetings.

This workshop is designed to support faculty members preparing for any personnel review in 2021-22: pre-tenure, tenure, or promotion. Working with an assigned faculty mentor, participants will compose their Personal/Reflective Statement and as time permits, prepare other supporting materials for their portfolio in accordance with their college and unit personnel policies.

This multi-week writing-intensive workshop incorporates self-study, weekly phone or video meetings with your mentor, writing time, and optional weekly supplemental support/information sessions. Participants will receive individualized feedback on submitted drafts from their assigned faculty mentor throughout the workshop.

Participants are expected to:

  1. Devote two hours weekly (Fridays 1-3pm) to meet remotely with the larger group and your assigned mentor;
  2. Read assigned materials;
  3. Set aside 4-5 hours per week to compose drafts and compile evidence for your portfolio; drafts will be submitted weekly for feedback culminating with a complete working draft of the personal statement by the end of the workshop.

For more information, contact Kathryn Stieler (stielerk@gvsu.edu).

Workshop availability is  limited, so please register early.

Due to the revised format this year, we are unable to accommodate faculty who do not have a personnel review in 21-22AY or who have participated in the workshop within the last year.

Workshop dates:
Weekly meetings will begin week of October 1 and extend through October 29.
