DESCRIPTION:We are excited to welcome new faculty this coming Fall (2026)!  Orientation is a THREE-DAY event. The second day of Orientation\, held on Friday\, August 7th\, will feature our eLearning Technologies Team and will provide an overview of the systems GVSU uses including Banner and Blackboard Ultra. Additional technology and support will be highlighted too. \n\n\n\nOrientation will focus on engaging new faculty in a collaborative learning experience focused squarely on student success\, community building\, and exploration or campus resources for both faculty and news students.\n\n\n\n\n\n	Highlight critical information about the university\, guiding new faculty to construct for themselves a greater understanding of (a) the mission\, vision\, and values of Grand Valley State University\, (b) what is meant by student success\, and (c) the hallmarks of a successful new faculty experience\n\n	Model learner-centered teaching strategies (including interactive discussions\, experiential learning\, case studies\, special topic choices)\n\n	Foster a sense of community and build relationships among new faculty  \n\n	Motivate new faculty to see themselves contributing to a supportive\, collaborative campus community\n\n
