Embedded Faculty, Nurse Practitioner

Clay Reeves, DNP, NP-C is a doctorally prepared nurse practitioner at the GVSU Family Health Center.  In this embedded position, he sees patients several days per week and will be teaching in the KCON MSN/DNP programs at GVSU.

Clay has been practicing as a family nurse practitioner since 2010, working at a federally qualified health center in Muskegon as well as several urology offices in the Grand Haven/Muskegon areas.  Prior to that, he spent five years as an ER nurse at Spectrum Health Butterworth and Gerber Memorial Hospital. 

Clay graduated from GVSU with a BSN in 2004 and returned to GVSU to successfully complete the MSN program in 2010.  In 2019, he received a DNP degree from Frontier Nursing University. Clay was selected to present his doctoral quality improvement project, Improving Effectiveness and Quality of Diabetic Care by Implementing Evidence Based Performance Measures at the  Institute for Healthcare Improvement National Forum in December 2019.

In his spare time, Clay enjoys travelling to the upper peninsula of Michigan, but his favorite vacation was to the island of Kauai.  His bucket list includes trips to Australia and Alaska.

Clay has found much reward from his experiences as a nurse and looks forward to giving back to his profession. This position is a dream job for Clay, allowing him to continue to help the underserved in the community as well as teach in the profession that he loves.
