DESCRIPTION:The Hertz Fellowship is awarded annually to the nation&rsquo\;s most promising graduate students in science and technology that intend to direct their studies toward understanding and solving major near-term problems facing society. The Hertz Foundation awards fellowships to graduate students pursuing a PhD in the applied physical and biological sciences\, mathematics\, or engineering. It&rsquo\;s up to the applicant to advocate for their specific field of study and demonstrate how it will be applied to address real-world challenges with the greatest impact. Fellows take part in ongoing mentoring\, symposia\, and workshops. When you become a Hertz Fellow\, you join a powerful community of more than 1\,200 fellows\, spanning disciplines\, geography\, and generations. \n\n\n\nThis award is based on merit (not need) and consists of a cost-of-education allowance and a personal-support stipend.\n\n\n\n
