Welcome to the Frederik Meijer Office of Fellowships

Our Mission Statement: The Frederik Meijer Office of Fellowships, located within the Center for Undergraduate Scholar Engagement (CUSE), provides support for undergraduates, graduate students, and GVSU alumni to pursue inter/nationally competitive fellowships in all majors or areas of study. Many awards we support specifically target underrepresented students in higher education. We welcome alumni and work frequently with alumni applicants.

Our office is here to:

  • Work with qualified students and alumni to identify awards best suited to their goals
  • Help students develop an action plan for long-term goals (encouraging them to participate in study abroad, pursue second language acquisition, engage in sustained, effective volunteer service, take on leadership roles, engage in undergraduate scholarship, and more)
  • Help fellowship applicants navigate the application process in order to produce the most competitive proposals possible
  • Provide intensive advising and feedback on drafts of application essays
