I worked on the Lt. Gov. Brian Calley's reelection campaign, specifically in the area of precinct delegate recruitment. Since in Michigan the lt. gov. is elected by delegates at state convention, the recruitment of these individuals is extremely important. My tasks and projects included volunteer coordinating more than 2,000 volunteers at the Republican Leadership Conference on Mackinac Island, gathering endorsements for the candidate, organizing and monitoring Calley's social media and incoming email, contributing to the scheduling of campaign stops, and more.

During the course of my internship, I assisted the producer for the West Michigan Live show, and then worked in the newsroom for the other part of my shift. For the morning show, I would help with pre and post production by finding statistics and other stories that would help to prep Neal Dionne (host for the show), and after the show I would update the website with the podcast and blog. In regards to the newsroom, I would interview subjects for news stories, write the stories, and edit the audio.

Job Description
As an intern for the Kirsten Haglund Foundation I had multiple responsibilities. My title was the social media and events intern. I was responsible for creating press releases and sending the press releases out to multiple news sources. I would then follow up with these news organizations in an effort to get Kirsten Haglund, founder of the organization, in the media to promote various events that we would be putting on. I was also responsible for creating event advertisements through constant contacts. As an intern I would go to every event and help put the event on by helping set up at the event and by helping with multiple activities during the event. Promoting the Kirsten Haglund Foundation through social media was another very important job that I had. I was responsible for promoting various events and articles through multiple social media sources. As an intern for this foundation I had many job responsibilities that took a fair amount of my time to meet.

While at Frankenmuth Insurance, I assigned claims to the appropriate adjusters. I was also able to handle my own minor medical only claims. While doing this, I called the claimant, insured and health provider. I made all the decisions based on these claims, with help from co-workers occasionally. I also helped other adjusters pay medical bills, attorney fees, mileage and transportation costs, if needed. I also worked on various projects for my supervisor and other co-workers. Other various clerical projects were my responsibility while I worked at Frankenmuth Insurance.

While at Meijer, I developed a web application for the Business Intelligence team. The application incorporated C#, HTML / CSS, JavaScript and JQuery, and DB2 Z/OS. What does that mean? It means I've learned a lot of new skills during my time at Meijer. My project was, in short, a web application that allowed specific users to update, delete, and insert records into existing databases.

Each week, I compiled an excel chart recording the numbers of all of the Chrysler brands international social media channels. Each week I would record these numbers and also check for content that was being shared on the social media channels. I would then create a report highlighting what was successful on international social media and what progress the countries social media were experiencing. I also assisted the international staff in any meeting they had and assisted in any other additional tasks that they needed. Also worked on the Dodge Dart case competition and created a mock campaign for the car.

I also consolidated bank charges onto excel spreadsheets and organized binders with various lease agreements, bank guarantees, and line of credits.

The type of internship I was assigned was to fill certain roles that of a Program State Director/Cheer Program Manager/Class Operations/Corporate Management.
I spent a majority of the time working in the class operations department with scheduling, booking and coordinating events, advertising and marketing, hiring and human resources, customer service, quality control.
In the Young Champions inventory and accounting departments, I dealt with budgeting, facility profit and loss review, class report processing, inventory design, and order processing.
I was given the opportunity to gain overall knowledge on how a business functions from the small details to the big picture. Over the course of this internship, I gained insight to customer expectations by working in depth with the quality control team. I was in charge of scheduling for over 200 class locations for more than one program (cheerleading and self-defense) which allowed me to sharpen my organizational skills. This was also true for our event scheduling and planning. The event coordinating aspect of my position assisted me in developing management and other team leadership skills.

When I was interning with the Grand Rapids Griffins I was in charge of select concourse areas on game nights, as well as working in the box office with the ticketing operations team. There were times that we as interns had special projects to take care of, this meant coming in on weekends and overseeing the cross ice jamboree and season ticket holder events. I also monitored post game autograph sessions and jersey auctions that took place throughout the regular season.

While working for Coach Mitchell and Grand Valley's football team I was able to monitor and oversee numerous events. I worked as the liaison during the MHSAA All-Star game, ensuring each high school team on campus had everything they needed, working 14 hour days and multiple practices. I also monitored Grand Valley's annual youth camps that they hold each summer, keeping track of timing and scheduling so that the camp didn't go to long. Seeing that it was the off season for the football program there wasn't a lot of hands on experience, but I learned a lot from shadowing and networking with the coaching staff. I look forward to coming back in the fall and working with the Coach Mitchell throughout the season.
