Student Scholars Day is a celebration of student excellence in research and creative work at Grand Valley State University. One of the areas that exemplify the importance these ideals is the Department of Visual and Media Arts. The diverse department is a network of related yet separate disapplies in which students investigate, question, and create visual culture. The department is made up of areas in Art Education, Art History, Film and Video Production, Photography and Studio Art.

During the 2022 Student Scholars Day event, the Department of Visual and Media Arts will be displaying two exhibits that highlight the high standards of student research in the department. Showcased in the atrium gallery of the Calder Art Center will be exceptional drawing work from a variety of different classes. The exhibit will be in display from April 5-22. Additionally, in the lower level of the Mary Pew Idema Library gallery, student work will be displayed from the department’s areas of Photography, Ceramics, and Jewelry and Metals. This exhibit will be displayed from April 8-August 15. Both exhibits will be celebrated with a reception on Thursday, April 14 from 5-7pm.
