Democracy’s promise is experienced, and renewed, in the act of conversation. At a moment of deep uncertainty for the Republican and Democratic parties alike, Americans of all political stripes have an opportunity to escape their echo chambers and pursue meaningful interaction across philosophical and political difference. Respectful, face-to-face exchanges are vital for thinking critically about the intellectual traditions that regularly collide as the country’s identity evolves over the course of generations.
In partnership with the Kate and Richard Wolters Foundation, the Progressive Women’s Alliance of West Michigan, and the Russell Kirk Center for Cultural Renewal, the Hauenstein Center is proud to host the 2018 Progressive/Conservative Summit. This summit will assemble national thought leaders from the left and the right for important conversations about the past, present, and future of American civic life, as the country’s politics and culture continue to shift beneath our feet.
Free and open to the public, registration required. Please click here to RSVP.
