Grand Valley State University invites you to view an exciting new gift of paintings from George and Barbara Gordon for our second floor gallery expansion made possible through their generous support. This outstanding, growing collection, now spanning two floors, includes oil paintings, watercolors, and archival materials from the Grand Valley State University permanent collection.
The university holds the largest public collection of Mathias Alten in the world, as well as his family’s archive collection of family photos and letters. Collectors George and Barbara Gordon determined that their Alten paintings should be on permanent public display. The Gordon’s made the lead gift to Grand Valley State University in 1999 and continue to build on that gift annually.
