Grand Valley State University announces its fourth annual Local History Roundtable of the Kutsche Office of Local History. The event is open to the public and will be held THIS THURSDAY, APRIL 18, 8am-3pm, at the Grand Haven Community Center, 421 Columbus in Grand Haven, Michigan.

To register, please go to: This years event, "Natives, Settlers, Founders: Our Shared Story of Community Growth," will feature Eric Hemenway, Director of the Repatriation, Archives and Records Department for the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians; author and historian Marjie Viveen; and Paul Trapp, former teacher and local history writer. The event will also include a guided Harbor Transit bus tour of Grand Haven, scheduled time for peer-to-peer mentoring and professional networking. Roundtable topics include: *launching and supporting oral history projects *researching and publishing local history *genealogy *grant writing *collections and archiving *promoting and marketing programs/events *volunteers and visitors *researching/teaching Western Michigans Native American history The Kutsche Office of Local History is dedicated to promoting and supporting research on underrepresented (marginalized) groups in Western Michigan. The Offices programs include The Young Lords in Lincoln Park project (, an internship program, among others.
