CANCELED - Basic Bike Maintenance Workshop

CANCELED - Basic Bike Maintenance Workshop

Date and Time

Saturday, March 28, 2020
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

  • GVSU Bike Shop/ Ravines Center

Update 3/12/2020

Due to university closure this workshop has been CANCELED. If you are interested in bike maintenance... please sign up for our April course.

Bikes, as with any vehicle, should be serviced regularly.  Anyone who rides a bike should know how to handle a few basic maintenance tasks such as how to replace worn brake pads and change a flat tire.  Not only will simple things like these make your bike safer, they also make riding your bike more enjoyable, and could save you an expensive bill from a shop.  The topics we'll cover don't require being a master mechanic and most can be done with simple tools you likely already have (or can acquire for a couple bucks from the hardware store).

Join one of our experienced mechanics for this introductory bike maintenance workshop and start getting your bike rolling smoothly for Spring rides!

Topics include:

  • Wheels: Fixing flats & basic truing
  • Brakes: inspecting, adjusting, & replacing rim-type brakes
  • Shifters: basic adjustments
  • Other general tune-up topics as needed/ time allows

A desire to know more about the inner-workings of bicycles.  No mechanical experience, tools, or bike needed (but feel free to bring tools or a bike to work on).  The GVSU Bike Shop can provide everything.

Can't make it to this one? Consider our next one on Tuesday, April 7th from 6pm-9pm
