PFAS are a large family of man-made chemicals used since the 1940s in products such as nonstick cookware\, stain-resistant fabrics\, firefighting foam\, and food packaging. They are called forever chemicals because they do not break down easily in the environment or in our bodies. Research has shown that exposure to PFAS can increase the risk of cancer\, harm the liver and immune system\, and affect child development. These chemicals move through air\, water\, and food\, so nearly all of us carry measurable amounts in our blood.
