MA-AL program partners with local school to offer ESL courses
The MA-AL program began a partnership with Allendale Public Schools in 2019 to provide an opportunity for parents of English as a second language (ESL) students to take free evening classes to develop their English language skills. Our MA-AL practicum students have designed a task-based English curriculum tailored to the needs of participants and have team taught and/or provided individual online tutoring for parents in the Allendale community, continuing in Fall 2020/21. The MA-AL practicum students have also served adult ESL learners through Word ESL, sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of Grand Rapids, and by delivering online classes for groups of adult learners in Vietnam through a partnership with MA-AL alumni.
