Revised Model Anti-Bullying Policy -- On December 8, 2020, the State Board of Education approved a revised Model Anti-Bullying Policy. This revised policy has been updated to align with Michigan law and a more prominent inclusion of school staff responsibilities. Read about the revisions
District and School Improvement Plan Document Submission for the 2021-22 School Year -- The annual submission of district and school improvement plans is required in accordance with the Revised School Code section 380.1277 and the federal Elementary Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as reauthorized by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) for the 2021-22 school year. Districts create these plans to address student needs and, given the profound challenges of the last year, the plans are of significant importance for the coming school year. Michigan K-8 Digital Literacy Program -- The MDE has awarded Sault Ste. Marie Area Schools, in partnership with Learning.com, a designated grant to operate the Michigan K-8 Digital Literacy Program with approximately 100 schools throughout the state of Michigan. Sault Ste. Marie Area Schools and Learning.com still have space for new participants for the program. Participating schools will receive training, support, and access to a comprehensive K-8 curriculum for the instruction of the 12 essential digital literacy skills. Districts and schools that are interested in participating are encouraged to register at https://info.learning.com/michigan-digital-literacy-funding.
