-- More than 250 volunteers worked together to deliver Eagle's Nest Academy a new playground in just one day! The playground stemmed from a partnership between the school, KaBoom!, General Motors, and the North Flint Reinvestment Corp. 

 

-- Detroit Premier Academy was featured in a Chalkbeat article for the innovative systems it has set up to help students improve their reading skills.

 

-- Excel Charter Academy teacher Carly De Leeuw was highlighted in a charter alumni success story by the Michigan Council of Charter School Academies. She now teaches in the same school she attended as a kid!

 

-- A teacher at Flint Cultural Center Academy was featured for traveling across the country to work in the city's new charter school.

 

-- Detroit Achievement Academy and Detroit Prep founder Kyle Smitley wrote a powerful op-ed about how Governor Whitmer's line item vetoes will impact students and the community.

 

-- The Thompson Foundation, which provides funding and scholarship opportunities to students from 11 GVSU-authorized charter schools, recently announced an initiative expand the scope of their scholarship funds by $200 million.

 

--  We've kept a close eye on the Detroit Youth Choir during their run on America's Got Talent after learning that some of the performers attend Grand River Academy. The choir finished in second place, but still received a huge gift for their hard work.
