Do you want a simple and fun way to connect and share information with students and parents? Join Alissa and Jeff as they cover the basics of how to create a Google Site and share exemplar Google Sites from a school district as well as from teachers of different grade levels.

Audience: K-12 educators

Facilitator Information:

  • Alissa Thelen  joined the GVSU CSO in 2015 and provides professional development for implementing NWEA test data, ELL instructional support, cooperative learning strategies, and leadership consulting. As the Instructional Leadership Specialist, she also works closely with school administration and teachers to focus on school improvement, teacher and student learning, as well as academic growth and assessment. Additionally, Alissa is always looking for fun ways to use technology to enhance school-wide communication and instruction. Alissa recently completed her Educational Specialist in Leadership program at GVSU. She also has a Masters in Educational Administration, a K-12 School Administration certificate, a K-12 Professional Teacher certificate, and is a certified Level 1 Google Educator. Before joining the CSO, Alissa was a classroom teacher and instructional coach for six years in Arizona. Upon arriving to Michigan, she worked as a Curriculum and Instructional Coach for William C. Abney Middle School.
  • Jeff Maxwell  joined the Charter Schools Office at the start of the 2018-2019 school year with nearly 15 years of experience in education under his belt. Whether a classroom teacher or school leader, Jeff has worked exclusively in urban education settings around Chicago and Detroit. His passion for establishing systematic improvement made him a key part of the team that made Pritzker College Prep  the fastest growing non-selective school in Chicago for three years in a row. Prior to joining the CSO, Jeff helped two chronically underperforming schools in Detroit turn around within a few years and show significant growth.
