Cohort learning opportunities for the 2019-2020 school year are currently only available to staff members working at GVSU-authorized charter schools. Each cohort is focused on a specific learning topic, and designed to meet multiple times throughout the year. Cohorts provide an excellent learning opportunity to build connections with your GVSU colleagues and develop expertise in instructional strategies. Cohort offerings are updated throughout the year, and attendance is expected for all sessions.
New Teacher Cohort
The New Teacher Cohort brings new K-12 teachers together to discuss issues that arise during their first year of teaching. Participants will engage in leadership activities, group and individual coaching, and receive targeted support. The goal is to allow first year teachers to thrive (rather than simply survive), so they can deliver a quality education to all of their students.
The cohort will meet 8-10 times from September to May, approximately once per month. Sessions will be conducted through a blend of face-to-face meetings and web conferencing.
