Event Title: Adolescent Consent: Who Decides?
September 26, 2022

Objectives:

1. Discuss the historical, ethical, and legal reasons why parents and granted authority to make decisions on behalf of the child.
2. Describe the legal and ethical aspects of adolescent consent in the medical field
3. Elaborate on the Harm Principle as the standard to identify when interference with parental decision-making is justified.
4. Demonstrate conversations with both children and their guardians regarding medical decisions
5. Describe case examples to explain complex decision-making for children.
