Scholarship Overview

Each semester, faculty from Grand Valley State University's College of Education considers scholarship opportunities for candidates in both initial certification and graduate programs. These scholarship opportunities have been made possible by the generosity of individuals and organizations dedicated to the preparation of teachers and other educators.

Scholarship Directions

Scholarship applications are typically due March 1 and October 15, depending on the scholarship. Students apply online through the GVSU's Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships by following the application process below.

Please note that an essay is required for most College of Education scholarships. Each essay should describe how the particular scholarship will benefit you, and should address the specific eligibility criteria for the scholarship.

Application process:

  1. To apply, go to the university myScholarships website and click on "Sign in to myScholarships" to login. Once you login to myScholarships, you will be able to apply for the scholarship(s) of your choice.
  2. Selecting the "Opportunities" tab will allow you to view all GVSU scholarships available.
  3. If you Search by Keyword for "College of Education" or "teacher" in the search box, you should see the scholarships described below.

To find scholarships for College of Education students and first-generation students, use the scholarships list on this page. There is a search Filter that allows you to search for specific scholarships by entering a keyword, and you can view the Criteria for scholarships by selecting "View" next to each scholarship title.
