Student Organizations for Future Teachers
Council for Exceptional Children
Grand Valley’s Council for Exceptional Children Student Chapter (CEC) is an on-campus organization devoted to providing education students with professional development, volunteer opportunities, and educational resources for serving children of all abilities. CEC welcomes all future educators with an emphasis in special education, general education, secondary education, school administration, and speech language pathology. Our guest speakers join us from a variety of places, including local school districts and educational service organizations. There is diversity in all classrooms, so whether your focus is in elementary, special education, or high school education, CEC is the community for you.
Join CEC during our bi-weekly events on Mondays at 7:00 pm in the Kirkhof building. You will meet people with similar interests and goals, as well as hear from a variety of wonderful speakers. You will also have the opportunity to be a pen pal with students from a local school, attend a professional development symposium, and volunteer with Grandville Transitions – a Region III Transition Program. Additionally, we exclusively sell College of Education apparel and merchandise to all GVSU students which can be ordered through our website.
