Education Faculty in University Leadership Roles

Two College of Education faculty members were recently appointed to serve as Faculty Fellows with GVSU's Office of the Provost and the Office of the President.

  • Dr. Chasity Bailey-Fakhoury, an Associate Professor of Educational Foundations, will serve as the joint Faculty Fellow for Strategy Development and Planning with both GVSU's Office of the Provost and the Office of the President. In this role, Bailey-Fakhoury will work with President Mantella and Senior Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Chris Plouff. Together, they will connect strategy development through the Office of the President with strategic planning efforts for Academic and Student Affairs. This will include assisting with embedding successful innovation work into Grand Valley's 2021-2025 Strategic Plan.
  • Dr. Erica Hamilton, an Associate Professor of Literacy and Technology, will serve as the Faculty Fellow for Curriculum Innovation with the Office of the Provost. Hamilton and GVSU's Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Ellen Schendel will collaborate to develop and coordinate dual enrollment initiatives for GVSU.

The new Faculty Fellow positions were developed from 2019 recommendations from the University Leadership Development Task Force (ULEAD) for faculty leadership development opportunities. From these recommendations, the Office of the Provost established the Faculty Fellow positions. The Faculty Fellows will advance key university initiatives while working in the Provost’s Office and the Office of the President. Bailey-Fakhoury and Hamilton serve along with six other Faculty Fellows from GVSU academic departments.
