Coolidge Presented with Barbara Jordan Award

Coolidge Presented with Barbara Jordan Award

Associate Professor of History, Grace Coolidge was presented with the 2012 Barbara Jordan Award at the Celebrating Women Awards reception on March 13, 2012.

In nominating her, her colleagues cited a combination of her teaching, mentorship and scholarship which advances our knowledge of women historically and the careers of women today.  Of particular note was the publication of her book Gender, Guardianship, and the Nobility in Early Modern Spain, (Farnham, England: Ashgate, 2011).

Professor Coolidge said that the recognition of her work in these areas meant a great deal to her--especially since the award that celebrated both her scholarship and  role as a faculty member at GVSU.  "I got where I am because of ten years of solid support from Grand Valley, and thank my colleagues in the College of Arts and Sciences and my colleagues in History (especially my feminist husband, Jason Crouthamel)."
