Description

Circular Abstractions: Bull's Eye Quilts
September 23, 2017-January 21, 2018
Kalamazoo Institute of Arts

The exhibition features 51 quilts by an array of artists that improvise around the Bull's Eye pattern: a four quadrant design with a bull's eye at the center of each quarter. Color and design become the focus of a dazzling array of quilts inspired by the innovations of legendary fine art quilt-maker Nancy Crow. Juried from submissions provided by an invitational list of artists, including artists from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Canada, the exhibition focuses on the dynamic potential of the fine art quilt and the individual creativity of the quiltmaker.

CLAS' Monica Johnstone is one of the participating artists.
