2. Welcome, Kristin Winfrey! 

Kristen Winfrey joined our office earlier this week.  Please join us in welcoming her.  Kristin will support Associate Dean Shreiner along with supporting the CLAS Curriculum Committee and the Emeritus Advisory Board.  She will coordinate the CLAS award nominations and serve as a liaison to new employees and Human Resources.  Kristin will also serve as a shared resource for units in need of assistance. 

 

 

3. New Webpage for Tuition Refund Appeals 

Over the summer, the Tuition Refund Appeal Committee worked to develop a webpage that provides students, faculty and advisors with specific guidance on the full process for requesting a tuition refund. The page includes the steps to follow, a link to the appeal form, appropriate supporting documentation for the appeals, and the situations that possibly merit a tuition refund and those that do not. 4.   2021-2022 Call for Student Advisory Committee Members 

The CLAS Student Advisory Committee for Dean Drake is looking for recommendations for student members for the 2021-2022 school year. The advisory committee will meet twice in the Fall semester and twice in the Winter semester to discuss issues important to students in the CLAS community. If you know any outstanding students majoring and/or minoring in disciplines within CLAS that you would like to nominate to serve in this capacity, please forward their contact information to Mona Silva ([email protected]). 

 

5.  New Process for Approving Student Graders 

In an effort to expedite the approval process for student graders, the CLAS Dean’s Office will be processing these requests directly from the faculty, rather than requiring the unit head approval to complete the form and submit it for processing. Faculty are now required to complete the Student Grader FERPA Training Request form for each student grader. This will initiate the approval process via the dean’s office. Once approved, the faculty member will be notified and the student will be invited to attend FERPA training. This will eliminate the unit head approval step in the process. 6. Course using Adobe—quick turn around 

The Provost has asked us to identify course sections whose students need access to Adobe Creative Cloud for fall semester.  Up to six sections can be reported in a single submission on our form. . 

 We need to get this information back to the Provost’s office by Friday, August 20 so they can work on purchasing the licenses.  Therefore, please have the form completed by noon on Friday.   

We contacted directly the Unit Heads who responded to this request in previous terms.  This notice is to catch any we may not have known about. 

 

7. Got Room? 

Departments or other groups scheduling meetings may be interested in larger spaces than usual.  The Open Slot Lists available at the CLAS 

Room Capacity page show which classrooms are available at each size during each regular time block.  They can be useful for locating suitable meeting rooms.
