Allied Health Sciences - Respiratory Care Emphasis Secondary Program Application Information



APPLICATION MATERIALS AND SUBMISSION INFORMATION

Priority Application Deadline:  March 15
Applications will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis until all seats are filled.

The Allied Health Sciences - Respiratory Care Emphasis at GVSU is selective and requires admission to GVSU, completion of a secondary application and corresponding materials.  Applicants may apply while courses are in progress.  There is no waitlist for this program.

NOTE: Upon admission to the Respiratory Care emphasis at GVSU, students are required to apply to Muskegon Community College.
IMPORTANT: Students should not send GVSU transcripts with their Muskegon Community College (MCC) application until requested by the Respiratory Care program at MCC.

Applications will continue to be accepted until all seats in the program are filled.
This emphasis is ONLY available to GVSU students who started GVSU 2020/2021 school year or prior.
Students who started GVSU 2021/22 or later will apply to the new B.S. Respiratory Care major.

  • GVSU Admissions Undergraduate Application  Students must be admitted to Grand Valley State University prior to submitting the AHS-RC program application.

    • Note: Plan to fully complete and submit this online application in one sitting as it cannot be saved to return later.
  • Official and updated copies of ALL non-GVSU transcripts need to be sent directly to the GVSU Admissions Office (if not previously submitted):

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 
  • Two Recommendations (use specific form linked above)
  • Completion of all prerequisites (each at C grade or higher)

  • Applicants who are not currently enrolled at GVSU or have not yet taken GVSU classes should meet with a CHP academic advisor as soon as possible to review transfer course equivalencies and program eligibility.  Go to our CHP Student Services Office website or call our office at (616) 331-5900 to set up a prospective student advising appointment.

The College of Health Professions (CHP) Student Services Office (SSO) in collaboration with CHP faculty and staff provides academic advising, admissions, and other student services to future and current undergraduate and graduate students in support of their academic, professional and personal development on the campus and within the greater community.

Students should plan on additional cost for travel expenses to clinical placements which can be up to three hours from Grand Rapids.
