In response to the global outbreak of COVID-19, and for the safety of the GVSU community, the University has converted to remote teaching through May, 2020. During this time, the GVSU Career Center will remain open to assist with your recruitment needs via phone at 616-331-6708.

We have directed students to use Handshake and other remote services to continue active job/internship searches and encourage you to do the same. The following are some recommendations for engaging candidates remotely.

Post jobs/internships on Handshake and link to event registrations

Please post all open jobs and internships on Handshake. You may also wish to link those postings to your event and fair registrations. For canceled career fairs, we will keep the Handshake event active and have encouraged students to review the list of attending employers, follow employers of interest to receive updates on recruitment activities, and review any postings linked to those registrations.

Consider distance interviewing strategies

For employers who had on-campus interviews scheduled, we encourage you to consider holding phone or video interviews instead. If you would like to keep a current Handshake schedule for this purpose, you can update your interview schedule name to “Virtual Interview Session” and put a phone number or url link in the “interviewer” name slot. Please note that you must contact all students that have applied to your Handshake posting with additional instructions or to reschedule.

Replace in-person events with virtual events
