Faculty in the College of Education and Community Innovation at Grand Valley State University expanded the Student-Teacher Pipeline in Battle Creek Public School (BCPS). GVSU faculty recruit College of Education and Community Innovation teacher candidates to complete their student teaching semester in BPCS. Faculty also provide joint professional development with supervising teachers at Battle Creek Public Schools for the student teachers to succeed in the classroom.  Student teachers receive tuition assistance, housing stipends, and gas cards while participating in this initiative. Once student teachers complete their student teaching semester, they may apply for a permanent position at Battle Creek Public Schools and participate in the professional development offered to all new staff.
