EPLI Trainer Focus Course: Hybrid Learning Plans


The Hybrid Learning Plans are intended to guide new and inactive trainers through the EPLI Trainer Focus Course. New and inactive trainers should follow the below Hybrid Learning Plans through the full process. 

In order to attend any of these sessions, participate in this process, or begin the application process, review the instructions under your trainer designation dropdown.

PBIS: Hybrid Learning Plan

The PBIS Hybrid Learning Plan outlines the training course plan for the EPLI Trainer Focus Day for PBIS for new and inactive trainers. Current EPLI Level 1 Trainers for PBIS are welcome to participate as the PBIS Module content has been updated.

This plan is a step by step guide to the course, which involves individual pre-work, live Zoom sessions, and a live Trainer Focus Day in Spring 2022. Completion of all listed activities is required to be considered a Level 1 Trainer of START Content for PBIS.

New Applicants for EPLI Level 1 Trainer of START Content and Inactive Trainers will complete the below activities independently following submission of their application: 

  1. Watch the EPLI Level 1 Trainer of START Content Overview Webinar
  2. Complete and submit the Trainer Formative Assessment for PBIS by November 11, 2021. You will receive an email with your completed Formative Assessment. 
  3. Watch the Directions for Completion of EPLI Individual Trainer Plan video. This video will inform and assist you with completing your EPLI Individual Trainer Plan. The following will also assist you in this process: 

Preparation for PBIS Zoom Session 1: 
Time to complete: 18 minutes
Due date: December 13 (Suggested) 
Who: Individual Trainers

  1. Complete the pre-work listed in the above section. 
  2. Participants will complete the following activities by December 13:

Focus on:

  • Reviewing concepts to deepen trainer knowledge
  • Practice presenting challenging slides
  • Anticipating and responding to difficult questions
  • Active engagement when training

New Applicants for EPLI Level 1 Trainer of START Content and Inactive Trainers will complete the below activities independently prior to Zoom Session 2: 

  • Complete assignments from Live Zoom Session 1. 
  • Any additional pre-work for Zoom Session 2: 
    • Preparation for PBIS Zoom Session 2 
      Time to complete: 45-60 minutes
      Suggested due date: February 25, 2022
      Who: Individual Trainers
    • Participants will select and complete one of the following activities:
      • View the PBIS Section 3: Behavior Science video and record any questions that you may have. (1 hour)
      • Read and interact with one section of the IRIS Center’s FBA Module: (45 minutes)
        • Under the Perspectives & Resources heading in the menu on the left side of the page, complete the following:
          • Page 1: Understanding Behavior
          • Page 2: Learning Key Behavioral Principles
          • Page 3: Applying Behavioral Principles
      • All trainers should bring their Individual Trainer Plan to the Zoom Session.

  • Anticipating and responding to difficult questions

New Applicants for EPLI Level 1 Trainer of START Content and Inactive Trainers will complete the below activities independently prior to the Trainer Focus Day: 

  • Use the Final Project Timeline to guide you as you prepare for the virtual EPLI Trainer Focus Day on April 25, 2022. This document contains all links and instructions for your final project. 

Focus on: 

  • Interactive review of concepts from IT modules in small groups
  • Practice presenting slides and giving/receiving feedback to other trainers
  • Progress summary in Individual Trainer Plans
  • Anticipating and responding to difficult questions
  • Active engagement when training
  • Additional training considerations and tips
  • You will receive your certificate of completion from START. 
  • Following the completion of the above activities, you will be an EPLI Level 1 Trainer of START Content and you can begin training in your local region. If after this process, you are not confident to provide training, the START team can work with you on your Individual Trainer Plan to identify future EPLI Trainer of START Content Support Activities that may help build your skills and confidence.  
  • Let your RCN Leadership Representative know you are ready to train. 
  • Review your EPLI Level 1 Trainer of START Content Expectations regularly to ensure you are meeting the requirements including submitting the EPLI Level 1 Trainer of START Content Trainer Report to your RCN Leadership Representative by June 1 each year. 

Educational Supports & Strategies: Hybrid Learning Plan

The Educational Supports & Strategies Hybrid Learning Plan outlines the training course plan for the EPLI Trainer Focus Day for Educational Supports & Strategies for new and inactive trainers. Current EPLI Level 1 Trainers for Educational Supports & Strategies are welcome to participate as the Educational Supports & Strategies Module content has been updated.
