START will continually update this page with information as it develops. We encourage people to follow the CDC guidelines.

In addition, START is also sharing information and resources via our website, Facebook, and Twitter in order to provide support for families and schools.

All START events are canceled while schools are closed. We will be following the recommendations of the Governor’s officeMichigan Department of Education, and the CDC as we plan for any scheduled events beyond the 2019-2020 school year. The START team will be meeting to discuss rescheduling events or making the information available in other formats. Please contact the START office if you have any questions:

CANCELLATIONS AND TRAINING UPDATES:

The EPLI Trainer Focus Days scheduled for 6/15-6/16/2020 at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center are both canceled. The Trainer Focus Days will be rescheduled at a later date. 

K-12 IEP Development and Implementation for Students with ASD scheduled for 5/13/2020-5/14/2020 at Monroe ISD is canceled. 

BYF Discovery: Path to Employment scheduled for 5/12/2020 at Saginaw ISD is canceled. 

K-12 Peer to Peer Day 2 scheduled for 5/4/2020 at Monroe ISD is canceled. 

The Spring RCN Leadership Day scheduled for 4/28/2020 at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center is canceled. 

The 19th Annual START Conference scheduled for 4/27/2020 at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center is canceled. Full refunds will be issued. 

BYF Discovery and the IEP Process scheduled for 4/23/2020 at Saginaw ISD is canceled. 

EC Module 7: Implementing High Quality EC Programming scheduled for 4/17/2020 at Kirtland Community College is canceled. 

The PBIS EPLI Trainer Focus Day scheduled for 4/16/2020 at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center is canceled. This meeting will be rescheduled at a later date. 

BYF Administrator Module scheduled for 4/7/2020 at Saginaw ISD is canceled. 

K-12 Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports scheduled for 3/24/2020-3/25/2020 at Monroe ISD is canceled. 

BYF Module, Attribution, Advocacy, and Accountability: Supporting all Students with ASD, scheduled for 3/16/2020 at Saginaw ISD is canceled. 

Peer to Peer Community of Practice meeting scheduled for 3/13/2020 at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center is canceled. The meeting will now be held via Zoom. 

UPDATE 3/13/2020: This meeting is canceled and will be rescheduled at a later date. 

EC Module 6: Teaching Play Skills and Promoting Social Interaction in the EC Classroom scheduled for 3/13/2020 at Kirtland Community College is canceled.

The START Project is closely monitoring the situation regarding coronavirus (COVID-19). We are following Grand Valley State University’s guidelines and the CDC guidelines. We are continuing to meet and plan for contingencies related to the situation. Currently, all events and trainings will continue as scheduled, however, we are actively planning for other options for training and resources in the event of cancellations. We will continue to provide updates regularly and encourage people to follow the CDC guidelines. Please continue to monitor the START website as information develops.
