Named after Renaissance artist Pietro Perugino of Perugia, Italy (sister city of Grand Rapids), the Perugino String Quartet has been closely associated with Grand Valley State University for over twenty years.  The ensemble is dedicated to performing great classics of the string quartet repertoire and a variety of interesting and exciting new chamber works.  The quartet made its New York debut at Lincoln Center in 1999 in an all-Beethoven concert as part of the prestigious Juilliard String Quartet Seminar, and premiered new works by Will Gay Bottje in 2001 and Lee Copenhaver in 2004.  PSQ centers its activities around Michigan, performing on many arts series and events, such as Saugatuck Chamber Music Festival, Holland Free @ 3, Fremont's Dogwood Center, Art Reach of Mid Michigan, Lansing Community College, Grand Haven Area Arts Council and Muskegon's Feeding the Soul of the City concerts at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.  Their yearly concert for the GVSU Arts at Noon series is eagerly anticipated.
