Artist Le’Ana Asher was born in Pontiac, Michigan, and is an enrolled
member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community. She has fond memories
spending many summers and holidays visiting her grandparents, aunts,
uncles, and cousins back home on the reservation. There she would
gather berries, fish along the shores of Lake Superior, and attend
traditional pow wows.

the vibrant, rich, and diverse indigenous traditions and culture, as I
see and experience them. I’m profoundly grateful and honored to
