An additional AP Professional Development meeting will be scheduled on Wednesday, May 8th to plan for anticipated committee membership elections/changes.

 

 

The AP Professional Development Subcommittee met on February 6, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. on the Allendale campus. Chair, Laura Kennett welcomed members and opened the meeting. Members in attendance included:

The Excellence Series sessions discussed were;

 

• Breaking the Entitlement Mentality, by Cindy Daniel, Not So Basic Training
• Lifestyle Productivity, by Michael Walenta, General Manager, WGVU
• Social Media for Advanced Users, by Nate Hoekstra and Leah Twilley News & Information Systems
• Writing for an Audience: Developing the You Attitude by Laurence Jose and Amorak Huey, GVSU Assistant Professors of Writing.
• Creative Leadership by Wendy Wenner, University Professor

 

All of the above workshops and seminar trainings produced good insights into the interests and need of GVSU participants and also welcomed Grand Rapids Community College participants. Overall, most of the evaluations reflected a high level of satisfaction with the sessions.

 

The next meeting of the APPD subcommittee meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 3rd, 2013 was cancelled due to K-12 schools spring break and rescheduled for Wednesday, April 10th, 1:00 p.m. Next meeting will be March 6th in 1 p.m. in 2243 Kirkhof Center.
