Maria Marino Tatzmann, '80

After starting her career in youth services in 1975 at the Hannahville Potawatomi Indian Reservation, Maria Marino Tatzmann,’80, earned her bachelors of philosophy at Grand Valley State University. Upon graduation, Tatzmann worked as both a job skills instructor and executive director for the Hispanic Center of West Michigan. She has also worked as a social worker for the Family Outreach Center and Manistee’s Community Health Clinic and Public Schools.

Tatzmann is also credited with founding Maria Marino and Associates, a private mental health practice which provides therapeutic services to children and their families in St. Paul, Minnesota. Within this practice, Tatzmann has started projects including the Ramsey County Head Start, American Indian Family Services, and CLUES (Chicanos Latinos Unidos en Servicio).

Along with the Distinguished Alumna, she has received the Women of the Year Recognition for Community Service from the YWCA and the National Conservation and Community Service Award. She currently lives in Brooklyn Park Minnesota where she also works for Family Networks, Inc. as a mental health therapist to children and their families.
