Amazon/ Sr. Manager- Site Leader Delivery Station
1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
Since graduating from GVSU in 2018, the skills I gained and
experiences I endured during my time have really helped me throughout
my career at Amazon. I started in May of 2018 as an Area Manager
launching Michigan’s first Amazon Robotic Fulfillment center in
Romulus, MI. I helped lead the outbound department for about a year
and then made my way back to Grand Rapids. I was the Area Manager over
the delivery operations portion of the Delivery Station, helping
manage the Delivery Service Partners that help deliver packages on the
behalf of Amazon. From there, I was promoted to both Area Manager II
and Operations Manager overseeing Delivery Operations. In June of
2020, I was asked to take over the Delivery Station as the Sr. Manager
overseeing both sortation and delivery operations. From there, I was
asked to launch Amazon’s newest delivery station in Kentwood, MI which
successfully launched in 2021. As the Sr Manager of a Delivery
Station, I am responsible for the overall safety, quality, cost,
productivity, and customer experience of both sortation and delivery
operations of West Michigan.
2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
My favorite memory of being a Grand Valley Student is being a
Resident Assistant (RA) for two years. This is a very competitive
opportunity that I was fortunate to be a part of for 2 years. The role
of being an RA offered an opportunity to build personal relationships
with others, develop leadership skills, and really understand the
challenges that college students go through, and be able to make an
impact on their personal and professional life.
3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
“View every person you meet as a door that may lead you to a new
opportunity.” Every step that I have made in both my personal and
professional life is due to making a connection somewhere along the
way and always keeping them close. You truly never know how a person
can add to your life if you don’t give them a chance and make that
connection. Every interaction you have in life should be intentional
and you should view each person you meet as valuable and worthy of
your time.
4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand
Valley experience.
Challenging, opportunity, growth
5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
I hope to get involved with an organization that helps mentor
college-aged women as they head to into Corporate America and how they
can be the best version of themselves from the start of their career.
There was a point in my career that I lacked self-confidence due to
being in a field that was male dominant (operations). There were often
times that my mental and physical well-being were put on the back
burner due to me feeling that I needed to put in double the work to
get noticed/promoted. I really lacked the ability to set boundaries at
the beginning of my career because I was eager to get promoted as fast
as possible. I would like to be able to be that support for young
women starting their careers by sharing my experiences, encouraging
them, and being a resource on how to handle situations in the
workplace to balance both physical/mental well-being and overall productivity.
