Indianapolis Alumni Reception: February 5, 2015 (10 Photos)
The African American Alumni Association and Latin@ Alumni Chapter hosted “Life Beyond the Classroom,” a panel discussion for students on how to prepare for the future. Students were able to network prior to the discussion with alumni and ask questions during the evening. A total of seven alumni shared their experiences with the students, including three alumni who teleconferenced in to the event from the Detroit Center.
Seattle Alumni Reception: January 14, 2015 (3 Photos)
On January 14, 2014 "the mountains were out" in Seattle as Lakers gathered at the Alibi Room to socialize and hear university updates from Seattle Alumni Club leader Eric Maino, '05 along with Alexis Alt, '09 and Alexis Rangel, '10 of GVSU Alumni Relations. Swim and Dive Chapter Kickoff: January 10, 2015 (20 Photos)
The newly formed Swim & Dive Chapter made a splash on January 10, 2015 as 82 attendees gathered in the Alumni House & Visitor Center to celebrate the kickoff. University President Thomas J. Haas, Athletic Director Tim Selgo, current GVSU Swim Coach Andy Boyce, and Alumni Chapter Leader Mackenzie Satkoski made remarks during the reception. The Lakers beat Wayne State earlier that day in a swim meet held in the Fieldhouse. The group also celebrated the 10 year anniversary of the Men’s 2004-05 swim team – GLIAC Championship.
It was a fun filled afternoon as GVSU Alumni Relations welcomed a special visitor all the way from the North Pole. Future Lakers anxiously waited to have their photos taken with Santa & Louie and find out if they were on his naughty or nice list. Attendees also took part in crafts and enjoyed a delicious holiday brunch. There was even a special appearance from Buddy the Elf! Chicago Ugly Sweater Party: December 11, 2014 (10 Photos)
The GVSU Metro Chicago Alumni Club held its annual holiday sweater party on December 11 at Black Finn Ameripub in downtown Chicago. The group enjoyed food, beverages and the company of their fellow Lakers. Attendees voted on the best ugly sweaters and prizes were given out to the Lakers with the top three votes. The club also started making plans for their next winter event, and discussed ideas for Community Outreach Week. Connect with the Chicago Club on Facebook
On December 5, 2014 the GVSU Detroit Alumni Club hosted nearly 60 alums at Novi Bowl for a night of bowling, holiday cheer and ugly sweaters! The club was also able to collect over 30 non-perishable food items for Gleaners Community Food Bank. Thank you to everyone who participated. We hope you had fun!
