What do you like most about teaching at Grand Valley?
I learn just as much when I walk into a classroom as I hope they learn when we're done. Teaching is about growth. It's about personal growth. So, that's what I really enjoy, that growth that we have together.
What is your favorite class to teach?
Marketing Ethics. I always wanted to teach ethics. I always wanted to make a difference in that way.
What do students like best about your class?
Students like the fact that I care about them, that I remember the challenges that I had when I was an undergrad.
How do you contribute to the success of your students?
They really contribute to their own success. I'm a guide. I try to teach them to think for themselves.
What advice would you give to prospective students?
Know yourself. Know what you want, and go for that. We live 80, 90, 100 years if we're lucky. Why would we ever want to go into a career where 60 hours a week for 50 of those years we're unhappy?
What is the most rewarding aspect about teaching at Grand Valley?
The most rewarding aspect is the last lecture when you finally get that aha moment when everything comes together.
