City: Benton Harbor, MI
Major: Criminal Justice
Year in Freshman Academy: 2011

I chose GVSU because they have one of the best police academies that are offered in Michigan. I was also attracted to the beautiful recreational center that has a glass window front, indoor track and a number of basketball courts! To top it off, the discovery that any bus around the city will take you anywhere as long as you have a GV ID. Card was a plus!! Freshman Academy impacted me by ensuring me that I was not alone at GVSU. Before attending the Freshman Academy, I was insecure about my math skills, but the staff helped me get through the hard times and was available any time that I needed them. Sulari, was always there to help me find a job and assist me with class scheduling which was difficult for me to pick the right ones at times. What motivates me to continue my education is knowing that I have people on my side that care about me and want me to be successful. To know that all faculty/ staff are not just working for the money, but instead because it is their passion does my heart great joy!

I am a native of Benton Harbor, MI and am the youngest of eight children. I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Juvenile Justice. I have aspirations of becoming a federal agent someday or working with troubled youth to deter them from committing future crimes.
