  • Degree offered: B.A., B.S.. Students seeking the B.A. degree must demonstrate third semester proficiency in a foreign language.
  • This guide assumes a prior math background.
  • Accreditation: Committee on Professional Training of the American Chemical Society.
  • If time permits, students could take the following based on emphasis area selected:  Professional emphasis:  MATH 152 or 162, PHYS 251 + 252; Technical emphasis:  STAT 170, PHYS 221 + 222, CRSC 231;  Education:  GEOL 221, PHYS 221 + 222, PSYC 200; Biochemistry:  BIOL 121, PHYS 221 + 222; Environmental emphasis:  CITA 110, BIOL 121, PHYS 221 + 222, STAT 170.  However, a minimum of 58 credits must be taken from a four year college.
  • This guide fulfills the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA).  Science elective must be a non-CHEM course.  Humanities electives must be selected from different disciplines.  Social science electives must be selected from different disciplines.   Please check with your community college advisor for additional associate degree requirements.  GVSU will still honor the MACRAO agreement.
  • World Perspectives electives:  ANTH 270, FREN 202, GEOG 200, GRMN 202, HUMS 125, HUMS 160, HUMS 214, POLS 201, SPAN 202
  • U.S. Diversity electives:  HIST 211, HIST 212, HUMS 215, SOCL 255, SOCL 260
  • Students interested in teacher certificaion should not take a U.S. Diversity course.
  • Students interested in teacher certification should take PSYC 200 as a social science elective.
