  • Degree offered: B.S., B.A. Students seeking the B.A. degree must demonstrate a third semester proficiency in a foreign language.
  • This guide assumes students are prepared to begin with MTH 150. Prerequisite courses may be necessary.
  • This guide fulfills the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA).  Science electives must be selected from different disciplines.  Social science electives must be selected from different disciplines.  Humanities electives must be selected from different disciplines.  Please check with your community college advisor for additional associate degree requirements.  GVSU will still honor the MACRAO agreement.

  • Students interested in teacher certification should include PSY 161 and PSY 255 as  social science electives.


The mathematics major is offered with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Options within the major lead to mathematics careers in industry, in elementary and secondary teaching, and as preparation for graduate school.
