NOTES:

  • Degree offered: B.S., B.A.. Students seeking the B.A. degree must demonstrate third semester proficiency in a foreign language. Students seeking the B.S. degree must take MATH 150.
  • Students may want to consider transferring after one year of basic courses. Many of the required freshman/sophomore communication courses are not available at Southwestern Michigan College.
  • Possible electives include:  COMM 115, THEA 180, THEA 181,  ART 105 and BUSI 221.
  • World Perspectives electives:  GERM 202, PHIL 201, SOCI 101, SPAN 202
  • U.S. Diversity electives:  SOCI 202, SOCI 203, SOCI 240

CAREER OPPPORTUNITIES

Communication is a multidisciplinary liberal arts and professional field. At Grand Valley a student may choose a general major in communications or one of seven specialized majors. These majors include: Film and Video Production, Photography, Theatre, Advertising and Public Relations, Broadcasting, Journalism, and Health Communications.
