  • Degree offered: B.F.A., B.A., B.S.. Students desiring the B.A. must demonstrate third-semester proficiency in a foreign language. Students seeking the B.S. should take CIS 110 and MATH 115.
  • Transfer students must complete 15 semester credits of art at GVSU including one art history course.
  • This guide fulfills the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA).  Science electives must be selected from different disciplines.  Social science electives must be selected from different disciplines.  Humanities elective must be a non-ART coruse.   Please check with your community college advisor for additional associate degree requirements.  GVSU will still honor the MACRAO agreement.
  • Students are encouraged to transfer after one year of basic courses.
  • U.S. Diversity electives:  ENG 130, ENG 231, HIST 201, HIST 202, HIST 207, SOC 102, SOC 202, SOC 205, WS 101
  • Accreditation: National Association of Schools of Art and Design.
  • Students interested in K-12 teacher certification should take PSYC 201 as a social science elective and could also take ED 225 or 252.
  • Transfer students interested in pursuing a program within the Department of Art and Design must apply for and attend a portfolio review session to determine acceptance into the program and, if accepted, determine which studio courses may receive specific credit.  For more details on the application process to the Department of Art and Design please see:
