  • Degrees offered: B.F.A., B.A., B.S.. Students seeking the B.A. degree must demonstrate third-semester proficiency in a foreign language. Students seeking the B.S. degree should take MTH 131 and CIT 100 or PHL 105.
  • This guide fulfills the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA).  Science electives must be selected from different disciplines.  Humanities elective must be a non-ART course.  Social science electives must be selected from different disciplines.   Please check with your community college advisor for additional associate degree requirements.  GVSU will still honor the MACRAO agreement.
  • U.S. Diversity electives:  ART 214, ENG 245, SOC 201, HST 111, HST 112, HST 211, HST 212, HST 213, MUS 111, SOC 220
  • Accreditation: National Association of Schools of Art and Design.
  • Students are encouraged to transfer after one year of basic ourses.
  • Students interested in K-12 teacher certification should take PSY 101 as a social science elective and could aslo take CD 202.
  • Transfer students interested in pursuing a program within the Department of Art and Design must apply for and attend a portfolio review session to determine acceptance into the program and, if accepted, determine which studio courses may receive specific credit.  For more details on the application process to the Department of Art and Design please see
