NOTES:

  • Degree offered: B.S., B.A. Students seeking a B.A. degree must demonstrate third semester proficiency in a foreign language. Students seeking a B.S. degree must take MAT 212.
  • It is strongly recommended that students transfer after one year of basic courses. Very few Freshman/Sophomore communication courses are available at Mid Michigan Community College.
  • This guide fuliflls the Michigan  Transfer Agreement (MTA).  Science electives must be selected from different disciplines.  Humanities elective must be a non-SPE course.  Social science electives must be selected from different disciplines.  Please check with your community college advisor for additional associate degree requirements.  GVSU will still honor the MACRAO agreement.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Communication Studies is a multidisciplinary liberal arts and professional field. At Grand Valley a student may choose a general major in communications studies or one of six specialized majors. These majors include: Film and Video Production, Photography, Theatre, Advertising and Public Relations, Multimedia Journalism, and Health Communications.
