Why did you choose to attend Grand Valley?
I felt wanted here. I really liked the atmosphere of the Honors College. It was really the Honors College that sold Grand Valley to me. When I came on a visit, I really felt wanted because the president of the Honors College wanted to meet me. Overall, I really felt that Grand Valley wanted me here.
What do you like best about Grand Valley?
I really like the professors; they care a lot. They make themselves available. They want to see you succeed. I think that we have great professors.
How have you benefited from Grand Valley's liberal education foundation?
The Honors College curriculum is very interesting and offers liberal education classes that I never would have taken on my own. It introduced me to psychology and sociology. A liberal education has made me explore things I wouldn't have otherwise and in general made me a better thinker.
How will Grand Valley help you meet your future goals?
Grand Valley has helped make me a better thinker and that alone will help me in the future. I will be graduating with such a better mind than when I came in. I really value the fact that Grand Valley has made me a better thinker. It will affect every part of my life here on out.
How has the Honors College enhanced your overall education?
In retrospect, I really enjoy that they have their own curriculum and made me take certain classes. It exposed me to many things that I wouldn't have been exposed to otherwise. So now I have viewpoints that I wouldn't have had otherwise. And the professors really care there. They will always make time for you. They are really approachable.
How have you benefitted from living in Honors College housing?
It's a great culture because it puts you around people that have similar interests and a similar devotion for school. People there really value education and the importance of education. It is really important to be around people like that, especially as a freshman.
Why would you recommend the Honors College to others?
Again, the culture is amazing. I don't know what more you could ask for as a student. You get to live in sweet dorms with people that are like you, people that highly value education. And there are so many interesting classes. The professors are amazing and the general staff is very helpful and very nice as well.
