How You Can Help Recruit Future Lakers

If your future Laker is an adult student or interested in pursuing a graduate degree, the following steps will help guide them through their discovery of Grand Valley. The provided resources will give them the rest of the story.

Refer a Student

Do you know a future Laker? Please fill out this brief form to tell us more about them.

STEP 1

Fill out the referral form.

Please fill out this brief form to tell us more about you and your prospective student. This begins the referral process.

STEP 2

Discuss the benefits of attending GVSU.

Our Quick Facts and Academic Programs pages are both fantastic ways to share the breadth and depth of GVSU without overwhelming them. Our Virtual Viewbook tells the GVSU story with photos, videos, and an interactive map of campus.

Step 3

Connect them with an advising specialist.

The Center for Adult and Continuing Studies has advisors dedicated to helping adult students navigate the unique obstacles they face going back to school. If your prospective student is interested in a graduate degree, they can schedule an appointment with Graduate Admissions who can help them find a program that is right for them and assist with the enrollment process as well.

Step 4

Remind them to apply when ready.

If your future Laker is ready to begin, encouraging them to start the application process will go a long way. Ask them to consider applying 30 days before the desired semester date to ensure we receive their application and to give them time schedule an advising session.

Scholarships are also available to Adult Students within the myScholarships database. Deadlines are between January 15 – March 1 for the following academic year.
